Funkey Tip Corner: Getting Started

To get started playing the U.B. Funkeys game, you’ll need to buy the starter set which includes the hub (U.B.), 2 Funkeys, and the program software. The starter hub can be shared by multiple players. You can share all the Funkeys, and each player can still be separate with their own coins saved and separate crib with their own game rooms and trophy rooms. Of course not every kid will want to share them.

Each player starts out with 100 coins and some basic things to get the crib decorating started. The fun part is uniquely decorating your crib and sharing it with your friends. Even though there isn’t any other interaction with others through the game on the internet, you can upload your crib and give your friends your name so they can pull it up.

Funkey Bios: Deuce

Fond of all things hip and trendy, the Deuce set the standards for cutting edge culture. In fact, the phrase “What the Deuce” means what’s hot and “That’s Deuce” means that’s cool.

The Deuce love music but not that snooty, high culture opera that the Glub sing. The Deuce like Rockabilly and anything that’s fast and you can dance to.

The Deuce are notorious pranksters. The most famous prank was when they tricked the Glub into wearing elaborate costumes with big platform shoes, rhinestone sunglasses and jeweled hats for their performance before Parliament and the Queen. She was not amused.

Despite getting on the nerves of many Funkeys at one point or another, everyone wants to be Deuce.

Funkey Showcase: Boggle

Todays Funkey Showcase is all about Boggle!
Boggle´s place is found in Laputta Station. Nearby the Big Red Button and the Portal to Daydream Oasis.

 

Boggle and its place is based around a monster, or an alien, due to its 3 eyed face. His place on the outside represents a cave and even a mouth of a monster, which could reference their big mouths.

The inside represents a laboratory. Weird choice huh?

 

 

His mart has alot of spooky items, and his Rare and Very Rare items are spooky eye wallpapers.

His game is called "Get Outta my Stew!". The goal is to squish the spiders using your spoon, and destroying their webs that they place in your stew. If they stay for too long, a red liquid will fill up on the side, and once it reaches Boggle´s sad face, its game over.
 
Getting a score of 6,000+ gets you a Boggle Fridge and the ability to play the game in your game room. A score of 9,500 or 10,000 earns a trophy and the game room access.

Did You Know Funkeys? Your Crib!

Ah yes! Your crib!
You can use the coins you get to decorate your crib with awesome items! Some items are cheaper than others, while others are expensive but cool!

Some items are also only available to Rare or Very Rare Funkeys, and some are only 1 of a kind!
You can decorate your crib with as many items as you want, as long as you have space.

So... What about Funkiki Island? (Series 2 Posts Update)

Hey guys! As you all may remember today we launched a new "update" to the blog, with new stuff and changes to the blog. One of the 1st new additions was a picture previewing the next series of posts: Funkiki Island. Im here to talk all about that.

1stly, its not coming out this month. We wanna finish all or most of Series 1-Wave 1 (Which includes Boggle, Lotus, Scratch, Deuce, Twinx, Vroom and Xener) and a bit of Series 1-Wave 2 (The rest of Series 1) and then begin Series 2 (Flurry, Webley, Nibble and Sol). Our plan is to begin Funkiki Island around Late June-Early/Mid July, to fit with the Summer theme. Dont worry! We have some more stuff planned during this time.

We will follow this formula/setup for future series, like Speed Racer and Dream States. Of course, some series will take longer to cover, but thats fine.

This series will definitely be much shorter, taking around a Month only since there are only 4 funkeys in this series, and could be finishing by August considering the weekly series we are doing.

As for the newest Funkey Of The Week: This will NOT count to the progress of release. We will not stop posting the weekly series´ just because of this. Its just a weekly thingy and thats all.

Funkey Tip Corner: Gem Shards!

 

Gem Shards are obtained by simply playing the games of the Funkeys! They are used to stop the Henchmen who are stealing the Funkeys Coins. Its random when or how you get one, and you need 4 to make a Gem and defeat the Henchmen.

My best advice is to keep playing the games over and over. Some games are quite difficult so playing them alot also makes you better at them, and during one of those times you could earn a gemshard!

Funkey Showcase: Vroom!

Today´s Funkey Showcase is all about the Daredevil: Vroom!
Vroom´s Place is found in Laputta Station. Nearby ROM Nexus and Fallout´s Place.

 

Vroom isnt really based on anything. Its a unique design, however the amount of stars it has represent the place where he lives in, Room De Vroom, and the fact hes a performer of stunts.

 

 

The inside of Room De Vroom represents a Garage, filled with stars and bikes, alongside oil spilled around the place.

In Vroom’s game, Super Vroom Ball, you start out on round 1 with 5 balls.

To throw the balls, hold down left click, aim, quickly move the mouse forward,(fast or it’ll be a “Dead Ball”) and let go. Be careful on how powerful you throw it, or it’ll go out of bounds, counting as one of your 5 balls. There are three rounds. On the second round you get 7 balls, and on round 3 You get 10 balls. Tips: Practice makes perfect! Keep trying to get it in that 100 slot, and once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to throw it in easily! Plus, during those countless games of practicing, you could win a gem shard!

High Scores: A score of 1,220 earned a Stunt Cannon, Access to it from the Game room, a Trophy, and a Classic Pinball Machine.

Zone: Laputta Station

Color of Portal and Gem Shard: Green

Length of play: An estimated 3-7 Min.

Funkey Bios: Bones

 

The Bones are what they are. They don’t hide their feelings or thoughts from anyone. But it’s easy to get under their skin making them often grumpy and disgruntled.
The phrase “You Old Bucket of Bones” has come to mean someone who is in a bad mood and if you “Have a Bone to Pick” you are upset about something. But make no bones about it, they still have fun.
Most doctors in Terrapinia are Bones and they are accomplished at playing piano. Their favorite past time is fishing, although their catch is often just skin and bones.

Did You Know Funkeys? Coin earnings!

Did you know? You earn a different amount of coins depending on score and type of funkey!

If you get a really bad score, you earn 0 COINS, so make sure to not get lazy and get some points to not waste your time.

Earning a great or amazing score, you can earn up to 100 or 140 coins, and more if you have a Rare or Very Rare Funkey!

With Very Rare´s, some games can earn you up to 400 coins per play if you beat all levels or get a really high score!

Funkey Tip Corner: Hoodwink´s!

 

 When your Funkey is walking around Funkeystown, watch out for those henchmen who will come and steal your coins! But if you have a hoodwink, that will stop the henchmen from stealing your coins and they’ll take the hoodwink instead. You can get a hoodwink when you find a sparkle anywhere in Funkeystown or another zone when you’re walking around. If you see a small bubble like thing that turns into a sparkle, just click on it.

Funkey Bios: Boggle

The Boggle are eating machines. Their highly advanced digestive systems can process anything from the most poisonous spiders to raw iron.

The Boggle bodies break down any material they eat. They sweat out a pure, sweet substance similar to honey that is the staple of all Funkey diets. Nothing beats a peanut butter and Boggle sweat sandwich with a warm glass of purple milk.

The Boggle are an essential part of the Funkey society as the recyclers of all waste, with zero harm to the Funkey environment.

Don’t be scared by their hideous appearance, the Boggle wouldn’t hurt a fly… unless it gets too close to their mouth – then they might take a nibble.

Funkey Showcase: Lotus

Lotus is a Funkey in FunkeyTown. Its place is found nearby the Funkiki Island Portal.

 

Lotus´ funkey design is based on Real Life Panda´s, while the Rare and Very Rare versions are just recolors and have very little references.

In Lotus' game, Heart Hoopla, you need to match 3 of the same color hearts. Using the mouse, you aim to release the heart. The level ends when a heart hits the top.

Notice that you can see the next color heart that will come up next. Use that as part of your strategy. Other tips that may help are: you can bounce the heart off the side, you have 3 sticks of dynamite but you might want to save them for the end when really them. If you have a color heart you can't use right away, aim it out of the way of any 2 color groupings to keep it out of the way for now. If you are aiming for the top row, you can line up your aim by placing your cursor up & outside the range and then bring it down to line it up perfectly. Don't move your arrow between shots because you know where it's aiming, so you can use that as your point of reference when you line up your next shot.




High Scores:
A score of 38, 460 got access to game room plus a nature's heart. 52,004 got the trophy, 75,000 got the panda pinball. The highest score reported is 145,470.

Did You Know Funkeys? Rare´s and Very Rare´s

There are 3 different versions of Funkey´s: Normal, Rare and Very Rare. Normal Funkeys are the most common funkeys around, and have the most amount of figures made. They dont get any bonus.

Rare´s are a little harder to find, but get some extra coins and a rare item in its shop.

Very Rare´s are the hardest Funkey´s to find, and they give alot more extra coins than Rare´s, and get a Very Rare item in its shop.

Rare´s and Very Rare´s also have a different color scheme and palette to make them different.

What is U.B Funkeys? The History of U.B Funkeys.

U.B. Funkeys was a personal computer game and collectible figure set created by Mattel. It was created in 2007 until discontinuation of the toys in the United States in 2010. Play consisted of a personal computer game that worked together with collectible figures that represent characters in the game. There are over 45 different "species" of Funkeys. Each type of Funkey normally comes in three different types of styles which are normal, rare, and very rare.

Game play involves players placing figures in the hub, (A special USB unit shaped to look like a larger version of the small figures) which in turn appear in the game. Each figure, when connected to the hub, allows players to unlock new areas of the game. The hub is purchased in a starter pack with two of the collectible figures. It is required to play the game. It began in August, 2007 and ended in January, 2010. The product was exhibited by Mattel in February 2007 at the American International Toy Fair and designed by Radica Games. The game software was developed by Arkadium.



Funkeys are characters that inhabit a virtual world called Terrapinia. Players navigate a number of zones and portals where they play games to earn coins. With their coins they can buy items to decorate their homes, referred to as "cribs" in the game.

Users progress through the game as they collect different figures. Each "tribe" is able to access different areas, games and items. Most figures have two sets of alternate colors, and using these "Rare" or "Very Rare" Funkeys gives the player access to more items inside of their respective shops.
There are many portals to go through: Kelpy Basin, Magma Gorge, Laputta Station, Funkiki Island, Daydream Oasis, Nightmare Rift, Royalton Raceway, Hidden Realm, and Paradox Green. In order to use a portal, you had to use a Funkey with a game room in the given location. For example, Sol can access Funkiki Island because its game room, "Relaxation Resort," is located there. However, Sol cannot access Lapuatta Station because there is no game room there it can access. Regardless of tribe, any Funkey can return to Funkeystown.

In every zone, there is an enemy character who appears if you stay outside for too long. These are: Henchmen in Funkeystown, Magma Gorge, Lapuatta Station, and Kelpy Basin; Natives on Funkiki Island; Dali in Daydream Oasis; Goya in Nightmare Rift; Kane in the Hidden Realm; and the Henchmen 2.0 in Paradox Green. Encountering these characters will start a short minigame where the player can win or lose coins.

Throughout the game, the player hears of Master Lox, the main antagonist of the series. He locked the portals and game rooms, restricting access only for particular Funkeys. In addition, he created the Henchmen to steal coins in Funkeystown, Kelpy Basin, Magma Gorge, and Laputta Station and the Henchman 2.0 in Paradox Green to destroy the Gnomon Tree.

There was also a series of Wendy's Kids meal toys. Some of them include a Bobblehead, A backpack clip, A 3D board game and 2 CDs that have prototypes of the game.

Funkey Bios: Scratch

Scratch

The Scratch discovered early on that they had the power of music. In the time of troubles, during the Funkey wars of the 3rd Funkazoic Era, they used this power to disable their enemies.

Masters of music, whether Techno, Hip Hop, or Rock, when the Scratch start to spin tunes, all the other Funkeys are compelled to dance. With opposing armies in a hypnotic dance trance, the Scratch were able to win many battles.

These days they use this power only for good. Known as party starters, the Scratch are always looking for things to take it to the next level. But if trouble ever returns, the Scratch could make a valuable ally… or a powerful enemy.
